11:30 a.m. -2 p.m. Downtown Summertime Musical Series, weekly at the China Steps with a variety of local musicians during the month. Bring your lunch or do take-out.

10 a.m. -5 p.m. Nanaimo Museum downtown presents Expedition: Arctic reliving the triumphs and tragedies of 100-year-old expedition to Canada's frozen north.

1 -3 p.m. Be a junior archaeologist at the Nanaimo Museum. Hands-on activities for children aged 5 -12 years.



10 a.m. -4 p.m. Free summer playground programs all week at Fairview Community School, Deverill Park, Mansfield Park, and Harewood Playing Field.

dance event in the Lion's Pavilion at Maffeo-Sutton Park.

9 p.m. Madchild from the rap group Swollen Members plays at the Queen's, 34 Victoria Cres, with SLAINE. Presale tickets $15, at the venue.

Various Times The VIEX runs all weekend at the Beban Park Fairgrounds with kids activities, animals and entertainment.
