7:15 p.m. VIJHL Hockey: Nanaimo Buccaneers host the Oceanside Generals at Nanaimo Ice Centre. Tickets are $9 for adults, $8 for seniors and students, $5 for children aged 6-12 and under-5 is free.

7:30-9 p.m. Free lecture at Bowen Park Complex. The Nanaimo Historical Society encourages the community to attend this lecture about the 100th anniversary of the Vancouver Island Coal Miners' Strike by Lynne Bowen, the author of 'Boss Whistle' (1982), 'Three Dollar Dreams' (1987), and 'Robert Dunsmuir, Laird of the Mines' (1999).

7 p.m. 'Anatolia Speaks,' a onewoman show by acclaimed Canadian playwright, Kenneth Brown, from Edmonton-based company Poiema Productions. At Nanaimo Centre Stage, 25 Victoria Road. Tickets $18 -$20.
