6 p.m. 'Hi-Ho Mistahey!' is film by Alanis Obomsawin that profiles an activist campaign first launched by Shannen Koostachin, a Cree teenager from Attawapiskat, to lobby for improved educational opportunities for First Nations youth. Harbourfront Library. Free.



8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. South End Community Association's annual Miner's Heritage Picnic. Free Event Deverill (formally Haliburton) Park, 200 Irwin St., Nanaimo.

10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Community walk/jog/run to raise money to build a school in Kenya. Cedar Community Secondary School's building a legacy group wants to leave a positive legacy with the school's demise.

9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Vancouver Island Regional Library sponsors a Lego Big Build Event at Country Club Centre. During Summer Reading Club Registration, build Lego creations and check out the Lego big build whale on display until June 30 Free Event, Country Club Centre, 3200 N Island Highway.



5:30-8:30 p.m. Irwin Street Garden work parties. The newly acquired Irwin Street Gardens is on the corner of Needham and Irwin streets. Many raised beds are ideal for those who have difficulty bending. Varied tasks. Bring gloves and hand tools if you have them. For information:
