10 a.m. - noon Bike tour to view trees of cultural and historical significance. Free, meet in the Bowen Park lobby. For more information call 250-756-5200.

4 - 6: 30 p.m. Bowen Road Farmers' Market. Nanaimo's food-oriented market connecting the community with the farmers in our region. With a focus on fresh produce, baking and meats.

4 - 6: 30 Take an edible native plant walk with herbalist Stephanie Mills at the Moorecroft Regional Park. Pre-register with the Regional District of Nanaimo by calling 250-248-3252. The cost of the event is $15.

7 p.m. The newly formed Nanaimo Ratepayers Association first public meeting at the Kin Hut in Departure Bay. All residents are welcome to attend, including people renters.

 

THURSDAY, MAY 30

5 - 7 p.m. The Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce presents is May business after business networking event at the Nanaimo Association for Community Living, suite 201-96 Cavan St. Bring business cards and meet other business professionals.

6-9 p.m. Spanish Conversation Club at the Harbourfront Library, 90 Commercial Street. Practice Spanish, all levels welcome.

 

FRIDAY, MAY 31

5 - 9 p.m. Help Stomp Hunger at Fibber Magees. This event, a benefit concert, features musicians Alyssa Baker and Nick Begg. Tickets are $10 at the door.

 

SATURDAY JUNE 1

1 and 3: 30 p.m. Nanaimo Pirates vs. Langley Blaze baseball game doubleheader at Serauxman Stadium, 355 Wakesiah Ave. $8 gets you into both games.

2 - 3 p.m. Cookbook signing with local authors Lorna Malone and her two daughters-Alison Malone Eathorne and Hilary Malone, authors of 'Sea Salt: Recipes from the West Coast Galley,' at Nanaimo Maps and Charts, 8 Church St. For more information call 250-754-2513.
